I graduated this past summer and just begun with SPIRE, the IRACDA-funded program at the University of North Carolina. The outcomes from individuals who would like to make teaching a major component of their careers is outstanding. I'd be happy to email with you about my experience applying to these programs and help you find out whether this is what you're looking for. If it's not, I can share some of my research about other teaching-research postdocs that are out there.

I was in the IRACDA program at UCSF and it was awesome. Unfortunately, I will not be attending the upcoming Neuroscience meeting but I would be happy to share my experiences with anyone that is interested. You can check out the UCSF IRACDA website and they used to have a listing of ALL the IRACDA programs in the country. It was a really really great experience for me and I fully believe that I would not have gotten my faculty position without that experience considering I did a relatively short postdoc.

Forwarded on Behalf of Seagraves, Kelly Marie [mailto:seagravesk at janelia.hhmi.org]
Dear Faculty of Undergraduate Neuroscience members,
My name is Kelly Seagraves, and I am a new graduate student member of the FUN community. I am finishing up my graduate work, and have begun my search for a postdoc position. Based on my past experience teaching undergraduates, I am interested in exploring postdoc opportunities that have a teaching component (like the NIH-funded IRACDA program, for example). Unfortunately, I'm finding it difficult to search out these types of opportunities, as they seem to be very university/institute specific.
Therefore I'm polling the FUN listserve to see if anyone aware of teaching-postdoc programs would be willing pass their information along?
I'm more than happy to share a compiled list with anyone who is interested, or discuss these opportunities at the up-coming Society for Neuroscience meeting.
Many thanks,
Kelly
