The Department of Psychology at Dickinson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Cognitive Psychology beginning Fall 2016. Area of specialty is open, but we encourage application from individuals whose interest lie in human cognition or cognitive neuroscience.
The successful candidate will teach psychology courses in the area of cognition: Introduction to Cognitive Psychology (taught as Perception, Memory, and Thought), Research Methods in Cognitive Psychology, and a seminar in Cognitive Psychology; the focus of the latter two courses will lie in the candidate’s area of expertise. The candidate will also teach, on a rotating basis with other psychology faculty, Design of Psychological Research (Research Methods) and a First Year Seminar. Teaching load is five courses per year.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology (or a closely related field) by the time of the appointment. We expect a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment and the ability to involve undergraduates in research. Our largest classes have a capacity of 35 students. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.
Dickinson College is a highly selective four-year, independent liberal arts college with 2,300 students. It is located 20 minutes west of Harrisburg, PA, and is a two-hour drive from Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia.
