Colleagues…. I also attend with students the Experimental Biology Meeting in the spring for the ASBMB segment of the conference where there is EXCELLENT integration of undergraduate education as a continuum with graduate and postdoctoral education. I asked several of the ASBMB officers how they were able to accomplish this and they answered exactly as you are encouraging us to do here… undergraduate professors get on the society’s committees and over several years change the dynamic to the excellent, undergraduate program we see today in ASBMB.

So I whole heartedly agree with this approach!

FUN Colleagues,

I’d like to echo Amy Jo’s and Gina Turrigiano’s encouragement to nominate yourself and one another to serve on SfN committees. Your perspectives as scholars and teachers of undergraduate students enrich conversations on SfN committees in numerous ways as we all try to enhance the training and research experiences of our students and the broader neuroscience community. Your voice matters!

Best always,

Julio Ramirez
SfN Councilor (2015-2019)

Good morning all,
As we discussed at the FUN Business meeting last month, one way to be sure that undergraduate issues in neuroscience become/remain in the forefront of SfN’s vision, is to nominate FUN members for SfN committees. Here’s your chance.
Best,
Amy Jo
