Good afternoon all,
The Undergraduate Travel Award for Brain Awareness outreach has been open since June 1 -- but we still have ONLY 2 applicants. This award is sponsored by the SfN, and the applications are judged by a combination of FUN members and SfN Public Education and Communication Committee members.
The one student winner will receive both a free SfN registration and $750 to offset travel costs to the conference. In years past, only those with a Theme H poster were eligible for this award; this is no longer the case. Any undergraduate student that has participated in brain awareness outreach who will present a poster on that topic on the main floor of the meeting OR at the FUN Social and Poster session is eligible to apply (those that recently graduated, but took part in the brain awareness activity while an undergrad, are also eligible to apply). In addition, the outreach did not need to take place specifically during Brain Awareness week in March.
The winner will need to present the brain awareness poster at both the SfN Brain Awareness Campaign Event (Saturday, Nov. 12, 3-4:30 pm) AND the FUN Poster Session and Social (Sunday, Nov. 13, 6:45-8:45pm).
The application is due July 6, 2016, and the faculty mentor's letter of support will be requested via email following the student application, and will be due by July 13, 2016.
Please reach out to your undergraduates and have them apply. This has not been an award with many applicants in the past, and we would like to see that increase!
Please see the FUN website (http://www.funfaculty.org/drupal/BrainAwarenessTravelAward) for more details.
