Dear Colleagues,

As you plan your attendance at the Society for Neuroscience annual meeting
in San Diego this year, I hope you will consider this year's teaching
workshop, which will be held on Monday morning, November 5 from 9-11 am.
The topic this year is "Emotion and Learning:"

Although we often think of learning as a neutral cognitive process, in fact
emotions have strong effects on our students' ability to learn and
remember. This workshop will review some of the basic neuroscience that
connects emotion and memory, examine the role of emotions in students'
learning, discuss practical strategies for creating an emotionally
productive classroom, and hear from a clinician about the many students who
report disabling anxiety that derails their academic progress.

You can find the list of speakers, references, and materials from this
workshop and earlier teaching workshops at the workshop website:

With best wishes,
Richard Olivo
