Dear FUN friends,
The August 2018 SnailFest Workshop, sponsored by ADInstruments will be held Thursday August 1st through Sunday August 4th at Emory University in Atlanta. Workshop faculty include Bob Wyttenbach (Emory), Bruce Johnson (Cornell), and Emily Pease (ADInstruments).
Pond snails are great models for rhythmic behavior. We will record extracellularly from buccal nerves, following a simple dissection, and then remove the buccal ganglia to record intracellularly from their neurons. In addition to specific snail techniques, the workshop will cover practical laboratory skills for neurophysiology, equipment and software for recording and analyzing data, and general matters of setting up a teaching lab.
For details and a registration link, see https://www.adinstruments.com/events/crawdad-crawfly-and-snailfest/snailfest-invertebrate-neurophysiology-workshop ($100 off if you register by June 15th).
