Hi Hillary,

In addition to Ilya's suggestions, Doug Weldon has a JUNE article ton lab spaces that might be helpful.

Hi Hilary, this is Ilya Vilinsky at the University of Cincinnati. We have a lab (using ADI/CrawFly setups) that holds 15 students and several instructors in an 800 square ft room, so we’re familiar with fitting rigs into compact spaces. Email me at ilya.vilinsky at uc.edu<mailto:ilya.vilinsky at uc.edu> and I can share pictures or video of our rigs and room.

We have fairly cheap and stable faraday cages made from steel L-bar and aluminum insect screening, and we use magnetic blocks from a variety of vendors, from Amazon (cheap, variable quality) to Narishige (nice but expensive). We use AmScope MD301B-BS cameras attached to scopes (not the cheapest, but good balance of quality and price) for student scopes. Bob Wyttenbach published a great writeup of equipment for labs here<https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6153001/pdf/june-16-277.pdf>. We also have a document with lab equipment that we use that we can share as well.

I am expanding my undergrad lab into a second room and am thinking about
best organizational setups. The labs we do are those in Crawdad or using
equivalent equipment and we have the Neuroscience Teaching Kits from

- Does anyone have pictures of student set-ups that use space efficiently?
- Favorite source for magnetic stages?
- Tips for making Faraday cages nice and robust?
- I am thinking about adding a camera to the scope of each set-up so groups
can view together. Anyone do this and have any advice?

Thank you!

Dear FUN members

The Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) is pleased to
announce the *Call
for Proposals *for the 2021 Equipment Loan Program. Annually, the FUN
Equipment Loan Program works through collaborations with equipment vendors
to develop opportunities for neuroscience faculty to offer their products,
services, and training on their equipment for up to a two-year loan with
the intent to purchase the equipment at the end of the grant program. The
vendors are always willing to work with the scientists so please apply even
if you want a different version of the equipment listed here.

Through generous donations from *ADInstruments (ADI), Noldus Information
Technology (NIT), Kent Scientific Corporation (KST) and Stoelting *we are
now accepting applications for proposals requesting a loan for equipment
supporting neuroscience faculty research and/or teaching for FUN members. A
complete list of equipment
