Hello fellow FUN members!
I hope this email finds you all well. With the pandemic disrupting conferences and moving things online, it has been a difficult year to network with one another and to share in our successes and commiserations, particularly regarding teaching (and for most of us, that has meant teaching remotely). I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to speak with many other FUN members during NURVS and the online workshops over the summer and want to extend my sincerest thanks to all those involved in making them excellent and successful meetings!
With the online SfN Global Connectome coming up next week, I found that there was little opportunity for those of us at SLACs/PUIs (and other institutions with a focus on undergraduate education) to gather and network with one another. To make a space for those of us interested in networking and discussing undergraduate neuroscience education (labs, courses, etc - particularly via online platforms) I submitted a social proposal which was accepted to be held on Monday Jan 11th!
Event Details:
What: Undergraduate Neuroscience Education Social
When: Jan 11th at 9am or 3:30pm EST
Social Description: A well-rounded and experiential undergraduate education is essential for success in graduate training and applied fields post-graduation. In the wake of the pandemic, adapting instructional pedagogies is necessary to continue providing an impactful neuroscience education. Here, we bring together undergraduate-focused educators from an array of institutions (ie, SLAC, PUI) to network, share successes, and brainstorm innovative strategies to promote an inclusive and experiential online education.
*You do not need to be an SfN member OR be registered for the virtual meeting to attend this social - all are welcome!
**This social is not directly affiliated with FUN, but since it may prove to be a useful networking opportunity for many of us, I wanted to share with all of you - I hope this is ok!
