CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Abstract submission is now open for the 2022 FUN Undergraduate Poster Session! This year’s poster session will be held in conjunction with the SfN Annual Meeting on Saturday 12 November, from 6:30-8:30 pm on the main floor of the San Diego Convention Center. This event showcases student research to the entire SfN community, and connects undergraduate students with other trainees and graduate school advisors who attend the meeting. Any undergraduate attending Neuroscience 2022 and sponsored by a FUN member may present a poster. The FUN poster does NOT have to be accepted by SfN or presented as part of the regular SfN meeting.
Each student abstract must be submitted by a FUN member in good standing, and each FUN member can sponsor one student submission. An Institutional Member can sponsor one additional submission from their program.
This year, we have 125 poster slots available to be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must register for the SfN meeting to participate in the FUN Poster Session, but do not need to present their poster at the main conference. Please note that students who have applied for a FUN Travel Award need to submit their abstracts here to be included in the FUN poster session.
Faculty should sponsor a submission only if they can confirm that the student will attend the session in person.
The call for abstracts will remain open until 125 submissions are received or Thursday 1 September 2022, whichever occurs first.
Instructions for Abstract Submission
Students should visit https://www.funfaculty.org/postersession and download the template to create their abstract, then provide it to their faculty sponsor. The faculty sponsor should submit the abstract file via email to Kurt Illig, Past-President of FUN, at krillig at stthomas.edu with the presenting student’s last name and "FUN Abstract" in the Subject line (example: Welter FUN Abstract). Full contact information for the presenting student and the sponsor should be included in the body of the email, and the abstract should be provided as an attached Microsoft Word file—not a link to another location. Submissions that do not conform to these instructions will not be accepted. No changes or edits can be made to the abstract after the initial submission. Accepted submissions will be confirmed with a return email to both the presenting student and the sponsor.
NEW for 2022: When your abstract is accepted, the presenting author will receive a link to register for the FUN Poster Session. All authors and sponsors are welcome and encouraged to attend the session; registration is required only for the presenting author.
For students who are unable to attend the Society for Neuroscience meeting in person this fall, or who desire an opportunity to present additonal work, FUN plans to host the Neuroscience Undergraduate Research Virtual Symposium (NURVS) in late spring 2023. Watch for separate notices regarding NURVS on the FUN website and FUN listserv.
