Dear FUN Friends,

Please share the following position announcement with folks who might be interested. Have a safe and healthy start to 2022!

Julio

The Psychology Department at Davidson College invites applications for two Visiting Assistant Professor in Psychology positions beginning July 1, 2022; both are Open Area but one with preference for Neuroscience (broadly defined) and the other with preference for Industrial-Organizational (ideally with expertise in social and/or cultural psychology). Length of contract term is 2 years. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interest and the capacity for excellence in teaching in a liberal arts context and eagerness to join the department's ongoing commitment to addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our curriculum.

The teaching load for each position is 5 courses over 2 semesters. The successful candidate will teach core courses within the department (e.g., introductory psychology, research methods & statistics) as well as courses in their area of expertise, including a survey course, lab course (IO position), and an advanced seminar (neuroscience position). We provide visiting faculty with mentoring in teaching, support for research, and resources for professional development (e.g., conference travel funding).

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by July 2022. Applicants should submit the following materials: (1) cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) a 1-2 page diversity statement addressing their ability to contribute to Davidson's institutional commitment to diversity and inclusion; (4) a teaching statement that provides evidence of their ability to create equitable opportunities for learning for students from diverse backgrounds; (5) a research statement that describes their program of research; and (6) the names and email addresses of three references who have agreed to provide letters of recommendation. The initial screening of candidates will be based on an evaluation of the candidates' potential contributions to Davidson's commitment to diversity and inclusive pedagogy as evidenced by the materials candidates submit. Inquiries may be sent to Dr. Kristi Multhaup at krmulthaup at davidson.edu. Applicants should submit the materials at https://employment.davidson.edu by February 15, 2022.
