Hello members of FUN!

I am a contributing participant in an NSF-funded Research Coordination Network in Undergraduate Biology Education (RCN-UBE) called Transforming Assessment, Feedback, and Grading in Undergraduate Biology Education (TUnE-Bio).

The first step of this research program is to get a birds-eye view of current assessment, feedback, and grading practices in introductory biology lecture sections in the U.S.

As such, I invite you to complete an approximately 10 minute survey<https://simmons.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4Jil4VrYQmmkNOS> aimed at better understanding current grading and assessment practices in introductory biology courses. Please see the advertisement below for more information. While not everyone on this listserv may teach introductory biology courses, I am hopeful that many of you do. If you teach introductory biology courses (defined as a biology course typically taken by a science major in the first year of college), please consider taking this survey. And, we feel our findings will ultimately be insightful for both introductory biology and neuroscience courses, although we are initially focusing on biology.

Please share this advertisement with colleagues who may teach college level introductory biology courses at 2 or 4 year institutions:

Researchers at Simmons University are looking for teachers of introductory undergraduate biology classes for a study on how you measure student learning and grading. For this survey, we welcome introductory biology instructors from 2 and 4 year institutions. If you participate, you will be asked to complete a survey. This survey will ask questions about your background and your teaching practices. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Four randomly chosen people who respond to the survey will receive a $200 Amazon gift card.

If you are interested, you can find the survey here<https://simmons.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4Jil4VrYQmmkNOS> and here:

If you have questions, feel free to contact: Dr. Sarah Cavanagh sarahrose.cavanagh at simmons.edu<mailto:sarahrose.cavanagh at simmons.edu>

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Michele
