The Department of Biology at Ursinus College invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Biology to join the research active and teaching dedicated faculty in Fall 2024. The Department seeks an individual who is trained in neurobiology and can contribute to courses in neuroscience as well as biology. Ursinus College is a highly selective, independent, co-educational, residential liberal arts college of approximately 1500 students located about 25 miles northwest of center city Philadelphia. With a diverse community of students, it is an expectation of all faculty to contribute to the inclusion, engagement, and success of all students.

The successful candidates will teach in the core curriculum for Biology and Neuroscience majors (BIO201 Genetics and NEUR200 Research Methods and Techniques in Neuroscience) and in their specialty (an elective and an upper-level lab-based course) and contribute to Ursinus' Common Intellectual Experience first-year seminar and first year advising program. All courses at Ursinus seek to engage students in addressing the four questions of our distinctive QUEST curriculum, and the candidate's teaching plans will reflect incorporation of QUEST. We will also screen applicants based on their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Successful applicants will also demonstrate outstanding potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and development of a productive research program that provides opportunities for undergraduate student achievement. Successful applicants will be supported with start-up funds and will be expected to seek external funding to support their research program. Dedicated lab space will be provided, along with access to shared facilities, including a staffed vivarium, in our newly constructed Innovation and Discovery Center.
