Do the textbooks you use have a balance of different genders and races represented? We know that students benefit immensely from seeing people like them in aspirational roles, yet, for many students, this may not be possible when reading neuroscience textbooks.
Join us TODAY, June 2 at 4 pm EST<https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUtfuyrpzwiE9NXcw4szmpRFxfzb_0CrZQe> as we continue thinking about ways to thrive in the changing landscape of higher education. This month we focus on representation in neuroscience textbooks.
Drs. Rachel Bristol and Shannon Eaton will discuss their ongoing efforts to quantify the racial and gender representation of images and illustrations in 10 of the most commonly used neuroscience textbooks. The discussion will include comparisons across standard images (like the diagram of the sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous systems) as well as an overall comparison of gender and race across textbooks. Make more informed decisions about class materials for next academic year!
