Hello FUN community,
Neuroscience in West Virginia is growing! We invite applications for two Tenure-Track Assistant Professors in the Department of Biological Sciences at Marshall University.
These positions are partially funded by a recently awarded NSF EPSCoR Track 1 RII which is also supporting purchase of a new Leica STED confocal microscope and adoption of spatial transcriptomics approaches (10x Genomics and Merscope).
We are part of a growing neuroscience community that includes the Marshall Biomedical Sciences Department and the Rockefeller Institute of Neuroscience and Department of Biology at West Virginia University.
Marshall is a public university of ~12,000 students located in Huntington, WV on the Ohio River, and offers access to myriad outdoor pursuits.

Job Title: Assistant Professor
Description:
FACULTY POSITION: Neuroscience Faculty Positions MARSHALL UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science at Marshall University is seeking candidates for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions in neuroscience at the level of Assistant Professor. Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience, biology, or a related field, and at least two years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
These positions are partially funded through the NSF EPSCoR Track I award West Virginia Network for Functional Neuroscience and Transcriptomics (WV-NFNT). WV-NFNT will help build inter-institutional capacity for investigating synaptic and circuit plasticity through high resolution structure-function techniques. New hires and equipment made possible through the award, including a new super resolution confocal microscope and building a pipeline for spatial transcriptomics, will expand on existing strengths in neuroscience, imaging, and -omics science. The successful candidates will be expected to become part of the WV-NFNT research team. We are interested in several research foci and model organisms within the broad WV-NFNT scope, in particular research related to immune function, metabolic regulation and dysregulation, and responses to exogenous drugs or other stimuli.
Teaching responsibilities will be in the departments general education and core courses, along with development or redesign of upper level and graduate courses in the candidates fields of interest. We are particularly interested in candidates with qualifications and a desire to teach immunology, metabolism, or histology, along with neuroscience-related topics.
Our Department and College value a commitment to excellent teaching and research. The successful candidates must have demonstrated the ability to develop a strong independent and collaborative research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, and a commitment to enthusiastic, innovative, and inclusive teaching.
Thank you,
Nadja
