The Ithaca College Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor position in Behavioral Neuroscience to begin August 2024. Teaching responsibilities will include Behavioral Neuroscience, a Senior Seminar in Behavioral Neuroscience, a course in their area of specialty, a credit-bearing undergraduate Research Team in Behavioral Neuroscience, and other courses as needed. A successful applicant will make use of a dedicated laboratory space to establish a research program that provides opportunities for undergraduate mentorship.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have earned a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by August 2024. In addition, the successful applicant should have teaching experience and a commitment to teaching undergraduates. Special consideration will be given to those who have demonstrated the potential to succeed as a neuroscience researcher. Applicants whose work demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.
Our Department
The Psychology Department provides a supportive atmosphere with a dedicated, accessible faculty made up of active scholars who evidence a passion for teaching. We encourage creative collaboration and innovation in our faculty and staff, and we provide resources for them to grow in their fields and lead students to their own innovative ideas and achievements. Our department seeks to foster in our students the growth of intellectual curiosity, an understanding of scientific methodology, critical thinking, and an appreciation and respect for diverse ideas and cultures. In addition to our Psychology major, IC offers a vibrant and growing Neuroscience minor that includes students from across campus, and we seek candidates who embrace integrative learning. The Department is looking for candidates who will be engaged and proactive colleagues in the department and the college, and who will support, empower, and retain students from underrepresented groups.
