Yes indeed! Echoing Eric, thanks so much for the clarification, Amy Jo!
While we’re chatting about SfN business, I’d like to encourage FUN membership who are also members of SfN to consider nominating a colleague or yourself for a volunteer position at the SfN. Your experience and expertise are invaluable to the SfN and to the future of neuroscience! Here’s the link to the nomination process:

Happy Holidays, everyone!

This email originated from outside Davidson College. Use caution, especially with links and attachments.
Very helpful clarification! Thanks, and happy holidays!

Hi all,
For those of you who are also members of the Society for Neuroscience, you recently received email from them related to a Governing Document revision. They are changing the Membership categories, and a few other things.
A FUN member raised a question related to this revision in our FFF last week – from the voting documents, it appears that the Student Membership category is being removed. This was concerning given the already high membership and registration fees for SfN. So, I reached out to the membership committee to ask.
Here’s what I received in response:
“We did not remove student membership. We still have the following student categories: Undergraduate, Graduate and Postdoc. The only change we made was removed the Affiliate membership, so all affiliates are now considered Regular members.
For further clarification, the changes to the Bylaws are completely operational:
1. The Bylaws will only define the larger member categories only (Individual, Sustaining Associate, and Institutional Program memberships).
2. This means then that the subcategories of Individual membership (Regular, Postdoc, Graduate Student, Undergraduate Student, and Emeritus) will be defined in the Resolutions to the Bylaws (Resolution 3)<https://www.sfn.org/about/what-we-do/bylaws/resolutions-to-the-bylaws>.”
I wanted to share this with you in case it influenced your vote (which is due by tomorrow at 5 pm (ET)).
Take care, best of luck grading and enjoy your holiday break!
Amy Jo
PS – we’ll be back on Jan 31 for the 2025 FFF season!
