Dear FUN friends,
Greetings from Scotland! I’d like to let everyone know about an opportunity for PhD study in Europe.
Astrid Prinz (Emory University), Michael Pankratz (University of Bonn) and myself (University of St Andrews) have recently won funding for a PhD studentship to bring together connectomics, physiology, and computational modelling to build ‘digital twins’ of the gut-brain axis in Drosophila larvae. The project is a fully funded 3.5 year PhD (with stipend and tuition included). The student will be a joint student at both University of St Andrews and University of Bonn and will spend approximately equal amounts of time at both places and while also collaborating with researchers at Emory.
There are no restrictions on the nationality of applicants. Anyone, from anywhere, can apply! Applicants from any STEM discipline are welcome. Creative, lateral thinkers and applicants from diverse backgrounds are welcome.
Deadline for applying is March 31, 2024

I’d be most grateful if you could pass this along to any students who might be interested.
Thanks in advance,
Stefan Pulver
